A strong team will increase your chances of advancing with your idea. Diversity of your team is a great advantage. When assembling your team, you should strive to combine people with different competencies, from different functions and from across the organisation.
Team roles
When assembling a team, consider the following competencies:
Project management. A person with project management skills to keep track of the timeline and to maintain an overview of the project. This includes the planning and managing of all project milestones.
Marketing & Sales. A person with sales and marketing skills to bring a market perspective to the team. This includes the definition of the customer need and an evaluation of the market potential.
Technology. A person with technology skills to bring the technical perspective to the team. This includes experience with process technologies and an evaluation of the technical feasibility.
Finance. A person with finance skills to bring the economic perspective to the team. This includes identifying cost drivers for the idea as well as the development of a business case.
One team member could fulfil several roles and one role could be distributed among several team members. Each team should have at least three and a maximum of five members.
"Working with entrepreneurship it is important to note that one thing is the competencies and another is the motivation and team spirit, the real driver that will determine your success."
